Student Life and safeguarding
As part of a welcoming further education, we ensure that Leeds Sixth Form is an inclusive place to study. We welcome applications from all students regardless of background and have facilities to support almost every potential need. At our Park Lane campus we also have a dedicated prayer room.
At Leeds Sixth Form we put students at the heart of college life. We have a proactive Student Involvement Policy that is led by students and supported by staff.
We are committed to doing everything we can to make sure all of our students and staff are kept safe and protected from harm. The government provides statutory guidance to colleges for effective safeguarding.
We adhere to all guidance and pride ourselves on going above and beyond to create a safe and happy environment for everyone. It is important to us that all college users are treated with respect and dignity and feel safe.
Safeguarding is making sure you are safe. If you or someone you know is at risk of harm or abuse don’t keep it to yourself – we can help. Talk to any member of staff or use the ‘REPORT IT’ button on the student intranet. The safeguarding app on the student intranet has lots of useful information too.
Part of our safeguarding duty includes protecting vulnerable individuals from the risk of radicalisation and extremism. This is called the ‘Prevent’ scheme. Prevent is a government initiative aimed at stopping people getting involved with or supporting violent extremism.
At Leeds Sixth Form we aim to prevent people from being drawn into all forms of extremism. If you are worried about yourself or someone else being influenced, we can help. Talk to any member of staff or click the ‘REPORT IT’ button on the student intranet about any safeguarding concerns.
As a sixth form we believe in and promote what are known as British values. We expect all our students to uphold these values too. These values are:
- The rule of law.
- Individual liberty.
- Mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.
At college there are lots of ways we can support you with course related costs. For more information, please visit our academic and pastoral support page.
